All the shows in my collection.except the two I just bought, have a green "uodate" button. What does this mean? What about them isbeing updated?

Open the settings and Rebuild your collection. Do nothing during the process, just wait the end. May take some time if your collection is big.

The Update sticker is there because your collection and the servers are not synchronized. Try to do a Synchronization with server. And try to log out/log in via the GUI.
