The Level of Explicitness can be thought of in Two Ways.

I think of it as Choice 1.
When I place a Check Next to a level, I expect to See At least that Level of Explicitness or slightly more.

The Second Choice is When you place a check mark, you Don't want the clip to Exceed that Level of Explicitness, but it could be less than the selected level.

Let me explain:

For Example.
A Full Nudity Clip.
With Choice 1, 99% of the clip can be nude, but there might be a 1 second glimpse of something a bit more explicit. It's still mostly Just Nude and I'm okay with that slight glimpse.

With Choice 2, that 1 second Glimpse, pushes it above Nude, so then It would have to be rated to the Explicit Level.
I only want to see Nude or less, and if there is a glimpse of something more explicit, I don't want to see it.

If you Select Full Nudity, it might be 99% is fully clothed, but she bends over with no knickers, and you see her bare bottom.

You might Select Explicit, but for the Most part, 99% of the clip could be just Nude with a 1 second glimpse of something explicit.

Currently Totem, for the Most part, is basing the Levels on Choice 2.
Anything Slightly More then the Selected Level, Pushes it to the Next level.
So your Check Marks Mean, I never want to see anything more explicit that what I selected, but its okay to see much less.

I would like to get a real idea from the members, on how they feel about what the check mark for the levels Mean.
Or what they expect that check mark to Mean.

When you select a Explicit level, do you expect Most of the Clip to Be that Level, or is it OK that only a small portion of the clip will be that level?

When you Check off a Level What does it Mean to you?

hm normally i would say option 1 maybe with one exception. the level no nudity. if you see the boobs or pussy it can't be no nudity. This is for those who want to use VG in an public place. if they only check no nudity that have to be sure that there will be no glimpse of boobs or pussy in it. Otherwise they could get into trouble.
if you select topless however you have no reason to be offended if you see a bare ass or a glimpse of pussy(actually Totem uses topless for bottomless too so it doesn't matter anyway)
But a full nudity clip that also shows a little more like the girl shortly rubbing her hot spot doesn't necessarily become an explicit clip and i doubt that anyone who only selects up to full nudity has a reason to be offended by that.

Hmmm.......I don't see a "No Nudity" option. I see "Lightly Sexy". I feel that if you see a little glimpse of something for a second, it's still lightly sexy.

If a person wants a non-nude product that can be used in public places, they should consider the site Rex has announced they are currently working on.

As far as Wyldanimal's question....I'll go with option 1. I would prefer to always see atleast that level.

Well, speaking as a customer, I felt disappointed whenever I watched a clip that didn't reach the level of explicitness I selected.

I said a number of times before in the forums that explicit, for instance, must be sexually explicit and not only explicit nudity. Full nudity means FULL nudity. Most of the cards are advertised as ones that include "sexually explicit beheviour". So, if a Full nudity clip is taken into the next Level just cause for a second I saw half a finger over the pussy and the clip fades away, I feel cheated. The same is true for all levels. I do expect to see a clip in any level to fullfil its promise, at least in an 80-90% of its duration.

I have more insight about the why of the levels now, so I won't elaborate. But extrictly as long time customer, I agree with the option 1. ;)

I can only say what I would set the levels at myself, if we had the opportunity to do so with an easy to use function in the VG GUI.

I prefer to take an approach based purely on level of nudity rather than suggestive or explicit behaviour. So, ideally I would only have 4 levels.

1. No nudity regardless of behaviour. I.e. it doesn't matter if she rubs inside or outside her clothing as long as you can't see anything underneath. This would also include a topless girl if only seen from the back.

2. Topless (side on or frontal view), whether nipples are visible or not. Or bottomless with no clear view between a girls legs. Again regardless of behaviour.

3. Full nudity, with no clear view between the girl's legs.

4. Explicit nudity where you can clearly see between the girls legs (i.e. full nude or bottomless), again regardless of explicit behaviour. I.e. the girls can be as explicitly sexual as they like, or not at all if they prefer, but as long as the viewer can see everything it's L4.

I know this type classification wouldn't be suitable for Deskbabes, but it would make things a lot clearer and more logical for classification of VG clips in my view.

With Level 5 clips featuring penetration, spreading, e.t.c, we do automatically have a behavioural aspect, however. So in that case I would also have a level 0 ("all audiences" - no-nudity or sexually suggestive behaviour), have level 1 for non-nude with sexual or suggestive behaviour, and keep the other levels as I described above.

To be honest, I see the levels as being a maximum of what will be in the card, so I personally go for option 2.

The problem being that if it is at least, then there could be quite a number of instances in the card where it draws close to the line and the repitition makes it obvious.

To make it up to is the "safer" and more conservative line that Totem appears to be following.

I disagree (respectfully) with Starryk, on the rubbing or simulated sexual stimulated should be discounted because you do not see any skin. Rubbing the pussy, is still rubbing the pussy whether you see pink or not.

I've known for a long time that Totem uses the policy of assigning an eroticism level that is not exceeded but could be less than advertised. I understand the reasoning behind some of this (I guess).

However, I think the levels are not named particularly well and there needs to be one more level.

For instance, a bottomless only scene is labeled as topless. I don't see what's served by this. There are some women in the modeling world who will only do "topless" nudity. This doesn't mean they will do either topless OR bottomless. Quite literally they do not want to show their genitalia - they see it as more explicit than simply showing their breasts. That's a common viewpoint. The topless level is good to have, as many want to see their girls in, for example, just panties & shoes. However, having a "bottomless" eroticism level (which would need to be regarded as more explicit than topless) would be *****, as there are so very few JUST bottomless clips.

Currently there are scenes in which the model has some or all of her clothes on but exposing her breasts and pussy, that are classified as "FULL Nudity". I REALLY love full nudity and when I think I may have extra clips featuring this, I feel cheated when I see the woman still clothed, exhibiting partial nudity by showing or flashing her breasts & genitalia. I think the few bottomless scenes should be classified together with all the just described scenes into a new category or eroticism level called "Partial Nudity", the eroticism of which fits between "Topless" and "Full Nudity". Full Nudity should mean just that - NO clothes.

There seems to be some variety in practical interpretations of what constitutes "Explicit" or "X-rated". I'm not sure what I'll see when I check these, except that both USUALLY (not always) feature full-nudity and if there is full finger penetration of the pussy, it will get an "X-rated" assignation.
