To follow on from my previous post

To catch errors in shaders I rely on the error and warning messages written to the vghd.log file when any are encountered. During scene development I use use a file "tail" utility so that I can see last few dozen lines of the vghd log scroll by as they are written (and can manually scroll back for more details if needed). I have a desktop icon pinned to my taskbar that opens vghd.log in this way with just a single click.

I use baretail, out of habit, but there are other tail utility out there and Notepad++ itself has an option to monitor the tail of a file in this way.

The easiest way I found is to ***** the desired girl's card into the "To be continued" section of the "In progress" panel on the right side of the screen. You can ***** multiple cards of the desired girl to this location.

Then click on a chosen scene. The girl will appear in the scene. (It may happen that some clips of the card will not be played, if the type of clip, for example "Swing", has been excluded from the scene.

Before you change the scene, make sure you put the desired card back in the "To be continued" section, otherwise another girl will appear. If you have placed several cards of the same girl, another card of that girl will be played when you change scenes.

The "primary" performer in a scene is the one corresponding to the first Clip statement in the .scn file. The clips used for this, and only this, performer in the scene are controlled in the same way as those selected for the small mode desktop mode.

So, if there are any cards in the Now Playing/Next queue then these will be used for the main performer and if you ***** a card to the Now Playing/Now Playing slot while a scene is active the scene will immediately switch to using that card if it has any suitable clips, Of couse you can only use this ***** and drop if you have two or more screens with the GUI on one and the full screen scene on another.

For the "secondary" performers you have less control - these are selected from whater cards you have "enabled" in your collection.

A problem with this is that while it works well enough with "properly" written scenes featuring a main performer with any others playing a supporting, background, role it fails if there is no main performer or if the scene's creator was not aware of the rule that the main performer should be mentioned first in the .scn file.

The scene utilizes the same shader twice and each use has 3 parameters set up in the scene code which gives you some control over the quantity, size and placement of the feathers.

I really wish they would return to the old Virtuagirl Scene Naming convention.

With that one you could put your username in front of the scene title (separated with an underscore I think) and it would group all the scenes under the username. You would click on the username and it would list all the scenes.

I know I and a few others ***** when they changed it to the current format. There was a statement at the time that they would bring this convention back but it never happened. Th current method means I have had to delete many user scenes because I don't want to scroll through thousands of scenes to find the one I want.

@TheEmu has several thousand scenes but under the old system these only used to take up a few lines in the scene folder unless you expanded them.

It was very easy to find what yoiu wanted.

I use 19 characters total, to allow me to add a...''Mod01' or similar to the .scn name
so all the new name remains visible while I work. I apply a similar approach with shader editing.

But at least we can say you know how to create beautiful scenes. 😊

Little advice. You should always name your scenes by starting with your nickname "Calgon".

I prefer something shorter so that I can find my scenes quickly and there is a limit on the number of letters that iStripper shows in the titles. Sometimes when I've been trying to find a particular scene to study the code using Notepad++'s find function I know the name of the file but cannot find it in iStripper because the full name isn't displayed in full - or visa versa.

You can of course name them whatever you like. I do release them to the same folder base so that they are all together on your hard drive. I could change my name to (x) perhaps 😜

I hope that the regular program will not be affected by these "follies" of the Totem leaders.

Because they currently have to finance themselves with the money made with this regular program to start this project?

I had to rename it that way, rather than (x) at the beginning, because I like to have the creators' scenes grouped in the same place. Otherwise it's not clear who the author is in the program's scene display.

Les scènes seront en effet différentes car elles utilisent un rendu différent
textures à chaque fois qu'ils jouent.
Bien sûr, tout petit changement qui affecte le shader est également intéressant.
C'est en effet ce qui rend la création de scènes si amusante, je suppose.
Cependant, je préfère laisser les autres essayer de modifier tout ce que je convertis plus tard.

The scenes will indeed look different because they use different render
textures each time they play.
Of course any little change that affects the shader is also interesting.
That is in effect what makes scene making so much fun I guess.
However I rather let others try to modify anything I convert later.

@Dar2112v: So far there's only been promotional pictures, so we don't even know what shows will be on Dolz, but each of the recent models has made at least 1 Dolz show.

Discord info also tells me that the different "rarities" of cards will have missing/extra clips - i.e a "legendary" card will have a few more clips than a "normal" card.

I feel they're trying to play on our percieved FOMO with this one.

Odd timing releasing this product with FTX imploding and taking both crypto and NFTs with it?

I own crypto including the ill fated Solana. I took profits on most a long time ago but held on to some thinking I would sell it even higher. Now it looks like crypto is going to zero much sooner than I expected. I hope Totem is playing with 'other peoples' money; I expect this FTX train wreck is going to ripple through much more than just the crypto universe.

I don't understand the Dolz offering and don't plan to try and figure it out. I would love some of the shows but I'm not interested in a crypto version of iStripper. And I'm definitely not buying more crypto at least not until it regulated into something more than leveraged monopoly money favored by criminals and rogue nations. Blockchain makes sense but the current iteration is not going to scale and eventually will have to reinvent itself and when that happens the hype will vanish

I say that because when I look at these three scenes FG089, FG089A and FG089OLD, all three are interesting and look different.

Oui, vous pouvez supprimer l'ancien ET _FractalGarden089A.scn Pensez qu'il a été inclus par accident dans le zip d'origine. C'était intentionnel que vous ne verrez pas legacy ET_FractalGarden089.scnOld , car l'isplayer ne montrer aucun fichier se terminant par ---.scnOld comme scène. Il a simplement été laissé là pour l'utilisation de l'historique du codeur. Merci beaucoup

yes, you can delete the old ET _FractalGarden089A.scn Think it was included by accident in the original zip.
It was intentional you will not see the legacy ET _FractalGarden089.scnOld , because the isplayer won't read any file ending with ---.scnOld as a scene. It has been merely left there for coder history use. Thanks a lot

I think there are many who experiment with the code even if they never share what they do.
The thing for Totem to remember, is that people know that models generally look better in Fullscreen
with its GPU rendering, than they do in desktop. This is especially true for people who enjoy the back catalogues 720p, 1080p etc. and this alone must help sales. 😉

I would've gladly bought some of these cards if they were sold regularly, but unfortunately NFTs and crypto are a no-go for me. Given all the extra expenses, and potentially inflated prices some NFTs have, it might be actually cheaper to pay Monika May to come to my house and film me a personal show.

On a related note, would it be possible to, at least, release the photo sets that come with these cards (if there are any)? It might be a nice compesatory prize for the non-crypto people like me.

Update: FG089..doing some updates at last
Note my updates will be more about getting used shaders to compile
better than about retaining multimodel scenes, so my updates here
will revert to standard single model standing and sitting scenes
which use less memory. Updates will use same .scn names as before.

I will retain previous scene/s in the zip as xxxx.scnOld together
with original shader/s for peeps who want to study any changes made
from the the original .scn or .fsh formats using say 'Beyond Compare'.

How to edit the registry ..... this guide is for Windows ONLY.

BE CAUTIOUS, editing the registry can be disasterous. If you are unsure how to edit the registry .. DON'T.
To open 'regedit', right click the 'Start' menu icon, select 'Run', type in 'regedit' and click OK.

BEFORE moving the installation folder and editing the registry, I strongly suggest you SAVE the current registry data/settings ...
Use regedit to open ... Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Totem\vghd\System
Click the arrow next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER to expand it
Now expand SOFTWARE
Scroll down to Totem and expand it
Expand vghd
now just select/highlight System
Right click 'System' and "Export" to the desktop using any filename you like.
I suggest you use a name like "Totemdefaults" to indicate it's the original default settings.

Double click each of the path keys and change the value/text to match your chosen relocation, then "Export" 'System' again using a different filename
I suggest using a name like "Mytotempaths".
The path keys should be obvious ... 'DataPath' , 'MainPath' , 'ModelsPath' and 'ModelsMultiPath'

To restore the registry entries, double click your chosen .reg file (as saved above) and those keys and data values will be rewritten to the registry.
If you expect iStripper to still work, ensure you have relocated the VGHD folder(s) to match where the registry path keys point to (example ... C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\vghd ... or wherever you choose to put it)

You can move the two .reg files (as saved) to another safer/preferred location if you need/want to

However the uninstall path has not been updated and I think Uninstall will not work after you manually relocate the install folder. (never tried)
To properly uninstall, you should ensure the files and registry are at the original location

I repeat ...
BE CAUTIOUS, editing the registry can be disasterous. If you are unsure how to edit the registry .. DON'T.

Finally, if you edit the registry and eff it up .... DON'T BLAME ME
You can always reinstall iStripper.
