I'm sorry for this post, but I gotta get this off my chest. I'm not trying to stir up trouble, so please don't swing the ban hammer down on me. I'm genuinely curious here.

Is referring to male friends/significant others as "bunnies" by a female some sort of French custom? Everytime the team member @LisaParadis uses that term to refer to the customers, I get slightly annoyed. Where I'm from, the term "bunny" is not masculine, and in the porn world, used to refer to Playboy models. I'll wager that 99% of IStripper users are male.

Per a popular English dictionary (because we're corresponding in English):

Definition of bunny

1 informal : rabbit especially : a young rabbit
2 dated, informal : an attractive young woman

You're essentially saying "Hey girls!" which is likely contradictory to your entire customer base. I recommend a change. I mean, we're not dating, so no need for the pet names...

Anyone else interpret it that way, or should I slink back to my corner?

We are all so different - it does not bother me at all. Perhaps it is a French thing?
I think it's sweet in away that she perhaps sees us all as sweet and cuddly 😆 which of course we are not.
We are certainly not Playboy models. If it was one of the male team I would start to worry. 😳
We often refer to the models as girls, the Girls Store for example, when of course they are all women, full grown lovely women. Perhaps that needs to change too? 😐
Just my fraction of pennies worth. 😉

Lol, don't get it twisted! I definitely don't want them to go all woke on us. The Girls Store is fine, and if she referred to us as "boys" (which wouldn't happen because I'm sure there are female users out there) I'd have no issue. It's just that I've always understood the term "bunnies," when referring to people, to be *exclusively* feminine. If someone from the outside were to see a promotional email from IStripper addressing me as a "bunny", they'd probably think I was into some way weirder stuff than IStripper...

Nope. She's just being sweet..Being one who is comfortable with my masculinity, I wouldn't care if she called me baby cakes! 💚😎

She's using "bunnies" as her own, unique term of endearment. I find it charming. Don't overthink it.

I think I actually like "baby cakes" better! But at the end of the day, she's not our personal friend, she's a customer service representative for a business. The last email I received from her started with "Hello Bunnies!," then immediately rolled into a sales pitch for the next set of scratch off games. Real endearing, that.

Not everyone is as understanding as old IStripper veterans. Some people may be turned off when it could be inferred that the official term for IStripper fans is "bunnies" (this term is used in correspondence by a team member, so why not? She speaks for Totem, so apparently Totem thinks we're bunnies, too) and think this may not be the place for them. Am I overthinking it? Probably, and I understand she's likely not a native English speaker. But I still think it's a poor choice to use when referring to the fanbase, especially from a business standpoint.

Say this: "I'm an IStripper bunny." 😄 Doesn't feel quite right.

@normalview I feel ya. I totally get where you're coming from. It's totally disingenuous and a canned reponse for business/sales...
On a side note..rabbits are also synonymous with fertility & "fxcking like rabbits" is a well earned term, because of how amorous rabbits are..Rabbit=Having a high sex drive, so I'd take the title, "bunny". My wife in fact has called me the "energizer bunny".😉

As some of you already said, it's a term of endearment used in French: "lapins".
In French it can be used with a male partner (a bit cheesy), but I noticed it's used mostly with kids; in France at least.
I also think it's a bit awkward coming from a business. Seems to be a marketing trend you can notice among influencers on youtube and other social media, when they address their followers.
She could actually use the French term directly; members would probably like the exoticism. 😄

Hi!

By calling you "bunnies" I really did not mean to offend anybody! The way I saw it was that, as explained above, it's an endearing term. It also comes from the expression "f***ing like bunnies" as well as the fact that my profile picture on Discord used to be Jessica Rabbit and my Discord username is "honeybunny", which made me obviously think on bunnies!

I'm very sorry if this nickname annoys you, but I do like giving you all a nickname in all honesty😇

If you think of any other nickname like "babycakes" that you would prefer to be called, I am open to suggestions!

Overall, I really didn't want to bother anyone, it really just was a cute nickname I wanted to give you and I don't want you guys to think of it as an insult, quite the contrary.

@LisaParadis pretty sure I am most of us not bothered one jot about the term and do not want you to change your approach to us. This is not a normal business, we interact much more than that, or at least some of us do and it is fun to do that for us and hope makes your jobs more interesting too. 👍

I see that "Bonjour mes lapins" was used today.

That's actually much better, in my opinion. It shows possession, as in that's Lisa's term of endearment for us, not the term for the fanbase as a whole. And as @arise77 mentioned, it adds a tiny bit amount of exoticism for us non-French speakers. Google translates it as "Hello my Rabbits," which sounds a bit ridiculous, but "rabbit" doesn't have the same feminine connotation as "bunny." I've always heard "f*cking like rabbits" used as opposed to "f*cking like bunnies," anyway.

One thing I do have to point out (with respect) is that others have tried justifying the term "bunny" as applied to males by using fictional characters. Bugs Bunny and the Energizer Bunny are literally depicted as rabbits, so by definition, "bunny" is applicable to them. You certainly wouldn't refer to Elmer Fudd as a bunny!

As for suggestions, I'm partial to IStripper sophisticates, myself 😎

To paraphrase someone above; it's not offensive at all but it is a bit strange or at least different to what most men in my opinion would expect to be called. Even playfully. Sounds a bit off. But hey as someone else said everyone is different. Maybe it's different in Europe though. In some circles it could be seen as a term a Domme
(Female) would use when addressing a favoured sub (male).
It does sound cute. I'll agree there.
