I installed Deskbabes last week and I am ***** between Deskbabes and Virtuagirls selecting and displaying demos.

• sometimes I select VG only.
• sometimes I select DB only.
• sometimes I select both VG & DB

I am ***** where the new demos will appear.
Some demos are displayed but will not play.

New demos appear in the demo screen with the green New label on them. To get the most demos, have p2p enabled on the Settings/Advanced tab. Also, the more you play them, the faster they seem to turn over and the more new demos you will get.
As for the ones that don't play, you need to give more info. If they are greyed-out, you may just need to click on the "Activate" box below the model.
If they need to be downloaded, the box will say "Download". Just click to download. If the card doesn't download or you get an error, you may need to go and delete some files. Get the card number of the demo that you're having problems with, go to that folder in the vghd\models folder (card folders are named for the card number with either an "a" prefix for vg or a "c" prefix for db) and look for any files with a .dlmcdf extension. If you find any, delete them and try the download again.

All of that is true as far as it goes; but I am ***** of the demo's filter.

When I select the VG only filter, I see a carousel with 20 VG demos.
When I select the VG and DB filter, I see a carousel with 10 VG demos AND 10 DB demos.
When I select the DB only filter, I see a carousel with 20 DB demos.

I had selected DB only filter on and left it for a couple of hours. I saw the DB trailers being downloading. A couple of hours later, I switch the filters (VG on showing 10/10 then DB off showing 20 VG). As I turned off the DB filter, it showed 3 new VG models.

Now, I know the server queues about 10-15 trailers before when a trailer will be displayed in the carousel.

I think the server is applying the filter;

• to downloading the trailer to the end of the queue (oldest),
• to displaying the demo from the start of the queue (newest).

It is like there is one queue; but 3 carousels.

The Downloader has only One Que.
If you turn P2P off / on, the Que gets emptied and starts over again.

Filters:
VG only = up to 20 VG cards, and the Next ones fill the que..
DB only = up to 20 DB cards, and then the new DB cards get added to the Que..
DB VG = up to 10 of each, but the Que is already loaded from the Settings above..

TO see the Card for the Given Model, you have to stretch the GUI out so the Card is Visible..

Models that Don't play.
probably is a bad download, but cant say for sure without more details as Firemonkey has asked above.

Didn't know about "stretching" the GUI to see the card. I was going to post to ask that the card # be included with the demos. Now I know it's already there. Thx for the info.

Once you Stretch the GUI and can See the Card,
Clicking on the Card Image will open your Web Browser, Log you in, and take you to the Cards Page.

Models that Don't play.

Did some looking and found a couple models that don't have any dot.demo files.

example this card has only 2 files with no demo files.
c0118.vhdtrailers
c0118_trailers.vhdp2p

Which means that the animations files are missing. I'd suggest you to delete these cards in Models folder and try to redownload them from the demo carousel.

No joy. I deleted \c0118 and clicked the demo on the carousel but nothing happens.

Should I delete both \c0118 folders in \models and \data?

What does the model image look like in the demos screen? Is it greyed-out? What does the chechbox underneath the image say?

Ok, you can't JUST delete the files to Re-download, there are other Steps you Must do.

YES, you must Delete the c0118.vhdtrailers file

But Only do this After you QUIT VG and also make sure that the Downloaded is Not running.

You can Do that Two Ways.
1st method, before Quitting VG, go to the Advance Settings and remove the check from Download After Quitting.
When you QUIT VG it will also stop the downloader..

2nd method, Open the Task Manager after Quitting VG, and Manually end the process.

NOW you can Delete the c0118.vhdtrailers file.

Restart VG
go to advance settings, RIGHT click on Sync with Server, then choose REBUILD ALL

After the rebuild is Done, it will detect that C0118 has NOT BEEN downloaded, and again display the Download button on the Demo tab.

firemonkey - picture showed normal; tried activated tried check and not checked.

wyldanimal - tried 1st method and it worked. c0118 showed downloaded and the demo played properly.

Damn, I completely forgot about Rebuild All option! Another sign of getting older perhaps ];-)
If you're going to redownload a demo, you have to quit VGHD and stop the downloader, before you'll delete "vhdtrailers" file, right?

WHY? What happens, when the downloader keeps running?

Both VG, the Registry, and the Downloader have a CACHE.
VG and the Downloader keep the CACHE in memory until you Quit, then they Write it to the disk.

If you make changes while VG and the Downloader are running, the CACHE copy might take the place of your changes.

So it is always Best to Quit VG, Stop the Downloader, Make your Changes, then Restart.
