that file is not the standard file used by istripper
iStripper uses an encrypted version of staticProperties.xml called staticProperties.cds

to Get an updated staticProperties.xml, you have to manually download it yourself.
i'm pretty sure I've sent you a PM with the details, go look back at your PM's

Names of the models and the cards are stored in the Names.xml file
But the Order of the data in that file is Based on your own My Collection Sort order.
So for to build a complete collection Data you need to parse the names.xml and pair that with parsing the models.lst file.


Models.lst is the repository of the Rebuild Collection Inventory.
it is a database of every clip that is in your Models Folder.

The App keeps this data in Memory, and only Updates Models.lst when you Quit the App.

why is it not more user friendly?

The app was not designed with the intent of having 3rd party programs access it's information.

Back in 2008
I watched card after card and discovered that each card, made a change to the registry.
so I wrote a little app the watched the registry.
I watched card after card, and made notes of the file name and what was in the card.
I decoded the file name scheme.
from that I was able to determine what each clip name described.
I also discovered I could push a clip name in the correct syntax on to the registry
and the App would then play that as the next clip.

I wanted a CLIP player.
There was no way to select a specific clip and play it back in 2008.
I wrote to both Rex and Herve to get permission to write one.
I sent them a sample of my work.
and they gave me the OK to do it.

Many times an update would come out, that broke the Registry Push.
using the registry push, was a way to interface with the App that wasn't Hacking.
Countless time I wrote to the Developer asking to have the function restored.
We had many conversations, as to what could be done, and what couldn't be done.
That developer moved on, and I've had similar dialog with the current developer.

We are now at the point where, these are the Two Shared Files that 3rd party apps can use.
models.lst, names.xml. and the Registry Push.

I've asked to have the Screen save function restored, but it's not a priority.
I don't know if it will.
It used to be, you could push a value to the registry, and it would trigger the screen saver to start.

I used that almost exclusively with my player to watch playlists.

that function no longer exists.
I wish it did. as I prefer to watch using Scenes rather than desktop mode.

Updates cause changes, we have to adapt to them, and when needed, ask to have a function restored.
but as of now, the three things have been provided to us..

as long as we have these three things, we can continue to create our own 3rd party apps.

@Birger52 It would make sense. Version 1.2.216 most probably just extracts a .xml from the .cds data. All .cds files are kept updated.

staticProperties.xml was generated by mistake with the client software ver 1.2.216
If I need a 'fresh' version of that file I simply install the .216 software, which generates an aktual .xml, then I go back to the current software version. Done.😇

Project staticProperties.xml has been abandoned?

Was thinking... why is it called models.lst, when it actually contains data for all the cards - models data are scattered throughout the cards xml-files

Was looking forward to a simpified representation in staticProperties - but the xml file has not been updated since february.
Simplified, in the sense that each show has a desciption, and each model has a description - kind of where evolution is going - rather than the description for the model is repeated for every card she is performing on, and these are stored (only once) seperately or with the data they belong to, rather than spread out over numerous files.
Seems it would be both more informative, possibly save some space as well.

I'm not sure to understand. If you use the same account the encryption is the same so the files you downloaded will work whether they are on an external or internal drive. If you tell the app to look for cards where they are, you should not need to re-download them unless some have been updated.

On your new computer, you will need to install iStripper, log in with your account then go to Settings, check the little case Advanced Settings (top left). At this point you have to go down on the page and look for the Data section, click on the button Change folder to add any location you want for the stored cards files (for ie: your mobile drive).

If you meant the data for the cards (xml files and card pictures) which is about 2.45Gb for a full collection they are located by defaut in C:\users\[your_user_name]\AppData\Local\vghd\data. So, you need to make a backup of all the subfolders that correspond to the istripper cards. Their names start with axxx, bxxx, cxxx, dxxx, exxx, fxxx and there is a folder called: "cache5" you can ignore it.

If you had some custom musics, playlists, scenes or skins you can as well backup these subfolders : musics, playlists, scenes, skins. Best way is to use an archiver like zip/rar/7zip this would save a lot of space and preserve the timestamp of the files.

If you want to go further and save some personnal settings, well it's a bit more complicated but not that much I could explain how to do it.

I instead buy way more plain cards than I really want: since, in my opinion, all cards should have at least one XXX clip. But I don't use to ***** about that, since I know that Totem has to try pleasing all tastes.
I hope that "plain card" lovers too will eventually stand the existence of XXX cards...

And there is the crux. The new XXX cards are a compromise between regular cards and the old deskbabes style of XXX. If the ratio of XXX cards is growing, then that sounds like the compromise is finding success.

Guess I could (should) progam a backup of the file, once it is read sucessfully.

Most of my model data is stored on my mobile hard drive.

If I change my computer or upgrade my hardware, I need to re-authenticate the model data, but usually I can't authenticate a lot of model data after the interruption, so I need to download it again! This is my most ***** moment! More than a thousand model data needs to be re-downloaded! Really *****!

I understand that reading may be very difficult in the first quarter of the twenty-first century, but seven out of the last ten cards released being of the triple X variety does add validity to the 'Lately' part of the statement..

Using the Release Date and Collections filters on my collection (which is complete) I find the following

2019 - 296 cards, 168 iStripper 56.8%, 128 iStripperXXX 43.2%
2018 - 358 cards, 214 iStripper 59.8%, 144 iStripperXXX 40.2%
2017 - 359 cards, 266 iStripper 74.1%, 93 iStripper XXX 25.9%

So there has been a significant, though not large, swing towards XXX this year when compared to last year (which may even out in the next two months) but a large swing when compared to 2017 when only 1 card in four was a XXX card.

Lately we have many XXX Cards again...😐

So far in 2019 - it still remains about 60 / 40 which is about the overall average since the XXX product was introduced.
I don't see a significant change in the overall non-XXX vs XXX ratio.

You'll see I'm a long time member. I buy every card and support the product. But one of the reasons I support this product is because it is not a subscription service.

I personally prefer to keep my recurring monthly payments to the minimum necessary. So even though I'd reach the 8% overall savings during a year, Premium (subscription) membership isn't for me.

I'm also still disappointed that the list of unreachable cards keeps growing for me because I won't gamble.

A few other bits and pieces are also in gold (your credit balance, the card title on a card's details page, the rating stars and the tiny indications that there is something new on one of the app's tabs) but nothing dramatic I am glad to say (I like the plain skin and would have ***** it if it had become "dramatic")

Beyond that is that all there is of it? I might as well run one of the other skins. I think I was expecting something really grabbing. Disappointed if that's all it does.

Yes. So, I get the impression that the so called premium skin is really just the basic skin? Yes the word PREMIUM is in gold and "buy credits" is a different color. Beyond that is that all there is of it? I might as well run one of the other skins. I think I was expecting something really grabbing. Disappointed if that's all it does.

@vg4us , I don't have the premium membership, or for that matter the 1.2.2.38 version. But from what I seen from the postings in these forums, the premium skin has the words 'iStripper premium' in gold lettering just above the left end of the menu bar. The right end of the menu bar, above where the icons are is darker and the buy credits button is a different colour. Other than that, there is no visible difference in the skin, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for posting that 'update later' notice that the older versions receive. I have been avoiding synching with the servers to avoid that auto update. I even go as far as to make sure that there are no network connections available when launching iStripper.

@Chicsans Thanks for answering my question. This update notice is probably the same you'd get if you click "Check for update" in settings panel.

@Chicsans - How did you get a preview for a SEC ? I've only been able to have previews for first SECs when they got out almost a year ago. I've always found hard to believe they were locked behind a wall without any previews.

@Carbo , @HSS answered how I did it, and I see that you yourself tried an older version too. I am still using 1.2.1.32 from 2016 It still downloads and plays all of the cards, and I can select, if I choose, to download and play any preview that I may want. I am aware that it is not the 'latest and greatest' but it does the job. Some of the later features are not there and I also understand that it is not supported and hasn't been for a number of years now.

If something stops working, or a card no longer plays, its 'oh well, it works or it doesn't' as I am not eligible to receive any support from the company or even from any forum users.

8 bytes were removed from the main section before the date
and a 4 bytes add Just before the clip loop.

a HEX viewer with a compare function is a valuable tool.

Same collection.
copy the Models.lst file from the old version
then copy the Models.lst file from the new version
use the Hex utility to show the difference...

I never understood the reason for it. If exclusive cards have to stay in the Store, there is no reason not to be also able to see their previews. Making people want such cards is in Totem's interest also...
