This forum was working perfectly.

I think that the team had already planned to transfer to Discord, and that the story of Mastercard and the images was the perfect excuse to justify this transfer.

There are several people that you see on the right on Discord, who were already on Discord, who have registered on the iStripper server, and who are not necessarily iStripper customers like us here.

Obviously for Totem, this is an interesting window to attract new customers. Hence the fact that I find Discord impersonal.

Also I find it harder to read on Discord. I don't know if it's due to the layout, but it's not like here. The BOTS annoy me, with their rank advancement, totally useless.

Well, the same could be said about not wanting to have to deal with a separate app.

As I said, I am sure that Discord does provide a better forum, but there is not as much new functionality as has been claimed just a better interface to that functionalty.

With respect to its use to avoid Mastercard's new conditions I would not be at all surprised if at sometime in the future Mastercard extended those conditions to cover how Totem are using Discord as a surrogate for its own forum.

I wonder why Discord is not subject to these conditions? I think I saw that someone had asked the question, but there was no clear answer to it.

That is a concern for me too. Not sure I would want to go through all these changes again to find another location for the forum. Perhaps one day it will end up on the dark web 😲.

But it can make sense for Gaming Servers for example, when people want to share their
Mods for their Games. These Files are usually slightly bigger, depending on the Modcontent.

Furthermore i slightly remember on someone on the VR Paradise Discord Server,
which was asking for an Community based Modding Support for VR Paradise.

And indeed i could imagine that if this will ever happen, people would be glad to have a quick access
to these Mods, within that Discord Conversation without using an external Service
like Google Drive for example.

And as long as the Server is running the Content will stay within the Discord Server.

Should i get run over by a train tomorrow, my Content on Google Drive would be dissappear

And for any Member who subcsribes to Nitro, they Get 100MB regardless of the server boost level.

Think about full Screen Scenes
you can now upload them directly to the Thread about the Scene.
No more 3rd party ( jump through hoops ) download site needed.

Same with custom card and skins
they can be uploaded directly to the Thread for the Cards, or the Skin.

So having the Ability to upload Files of up to 100MB is a big Plus in my view.

You can :

1 - post pictures, gifs and videos

2 - access it thru your browser or from their app on your computer and your mobile
2a - (which means you get way faster help from other members!)

3 - see who is currently online

4 - exchange private messages with other members

5 - get instantly notified of important news like reload bonus, fansign, giveaways and so on

6 - you can even have voice conversations with other members if you like !

All this, in the same place !

Real Time is, to me, not a benefit. I won't spend all day with Discord in the background, preparing to distract me, which is already far too easy to accomplish. I will use it the same as the "static" Forum, dropping in, browsing threads, and moving on after a few minutes.

Used in this way, Discord becomes inconvenient because it quickly becomes hard to sift through the posts that have built up since my last check-in. Participating in conversation becomes pointless because the conversations are hours old--which, unlike on the forum, is the distant past. This is, of course, not an argument against the use of Discord generally; it's just an explanation of why it isn't great for me, personally.

So basically, I guess what I'm saying is: "get off my lawn." 😂

I never said that there were no advantages and even said that Discord probably provided better versions of the forum's functions - but the advantages are not those that @Celine listed as if they were things that forum did not provide.

As I see it there are very large advantages for Totem (mainly in not having to maintain the Forum software which has long had major problems regarding its search function), some advantages for most users and also some disadvantages for some users.

That is good - but it's not what @celine stated, which was that it was an advantage to see who was on-line (and hence who will immediately "hear" what you have to say and who will not) not just some of them.

Real time text chat between members used to be possible in VGHD, and I have effectively done it here in the Forum with you and others - I get an immediate Windows pop-up when someone responds to a message so it can be "real time" if the participants want it to be.

I see no reason why it could not be "real time" via the iStripper app or web site. That it is not used that way does not mean that the feature does not exist.

TBH i hadn't realised that you could upload zip files which for small scenes might be helpful however as my smallest Fullscreen scenes folder is around 600Mb and many of them are in the 2+Gb region it is hardly an incentive for me. This is one of the reasons I stopped sharing my fullscreen scenes - the file size is beyond many user capabilities and certainly beyond the "free" file sharing services.

Also I was more concerned with users who have a low internet connection range. Even 3Mb can be a deterrent for some of them. Whilst most of my wallpapers are <5Mb the extra file size is useful as I don't have to reduce the quality it is still somewhat unfair on those that have low bitrate internet connections and /or download limits.

It amuses me to see the mods trying to keep the Discord channels on-topic the same as they do on the forum. I respect their attempt and their motives, but I suspect the "real-time-y-ness" of Discord will render that a losing battle. 😆

And about the full screen scenes, many are to large for me to download anytime soon because of my connection otherwise I'd have them all. It's fun to test them out. 👍

My issue is that Discord does not have topics it is chat. Additionally it doesn't seem to have all the areas of this forum but I haven't looked that closely.

With the threads on Discord, we have nearly the same topics than here. Just surf on the different categories and channels on the iStripper server on Discord and you will see that.

Maybe I am missing it but I don't see bugs or ideas areas which to me are the most important parts. I just checked again and didn't seem them.

Also I liked the Premium area area and the model suggestion.

Its not that big of an issue but just something I noticed. I had orginally used it some when you were first launching mobile I just don't get on discord in general that much.

Bugs, ideas, suggestions are all there. Bit like moving to a new house with snags, still a few things to sort, but it is developing. A couple more categories perhaps? Up to all of us to help it work even if it is just starting a thread devoted to your favourite model.

Last week marked the first time that I checked Discord for new posts more often than I checked the Forum. I didn't make the change intentionally; is just naturally became my habit.

I have to admit the Team and the mods have done a nice job getting things set up over there. It's starting to feel like home.
