Well, after having to re download my entire collection of ALL the models that we currently have since mine all were damaged, I feel relieved now. With all 467 that we currently have, it took about 5 or so days of 24 hour continuous downloading to get them all back. That was an unfourtanate thing that happened to me, but I think that since it is now 2009, there maybe should be faster downloading times. Instead of 350 kbps on average, maybe 1 or 2 mbps or so. Wouldn't that be so cool? Who else agrees?

i agree too, the last time i lost my girls it took me 36 hours to re-download them again because there is always some glitch that comes up and all my girls disappear, if i knew how to make backup files of the girls i would love to do that

You really don't need to re-download your collection again. That is such a waste of time. If you are a subscriber, your models.lst file gets corrupted every now and again when it communicates with the Totem Servers.
Just make a backup of the models.lst file (search for it on your hard drive) and when your collection "disappears" again, just copy your backed up models.lst file and overwrite the corrupted one.
Happened to me all the time when I was a subscriber and seems Totem have never fixed it.
Please remember that unless you hit the "Delete Her from Disk" option, your collection will not suddenly disappear. You do not need to re-download anything.

To avoid downloading all of the cards again when you get a new machine or do a reformat, I've made a copy of all cards to DVDs this takes about 25 for all of the released cards. Now it will only take a couple hours to reload the cards and then you only need to download the cards added since the last time of making the backup copy.
If you are talking about just the models.lst file getting corruputed then make a copy of the models.lst file and when it goes south delete the bad file and replace with the copy this takes about 10 minutes.

this is one général action, what you do, for all program made always one security copy, the day you not made this copy and have a computer problem is game over and you lost the imformation, then for all your use made a copy. have funrious.

Well, I had all of my files damaged or corrupted in some way or another, as well as a few hundred thousand pictures and thousands of videos that I had on the disc that had my VGHD files. As soon as I can, I'll back these ones up this time. I'm beginning to think that sometimes it depends on how many files are on a disc as far as how it affects the performance goes too. It seems as a disc full of fewer large files performs better than one full of many more smaller files many times. Well, now VGHD gets it's very own hard drive with nothing else on it. The other removable drive gets to keep all the pictures and videos until I can separate them from each other also.
