My hard drive is going to fill up quickly,I can already see that. I know that I can re-download models but the process is so time consuming. I just wondered if the software can be cofig. to store and run (data and models) files from a different location on another drive. I've got a 75 gig. "G drive" that would be perfect for the purpose, but I'm not a programmer; and I love this vghd too much to mess it up!! P.S. what does it mean to add a poll to a topic? Even 'tho i'm 51 and began to like computers in the '70s.. I'm Very new to forums, and things like that. Please forgive my ignorance if I ask stupid questions. Have fun,be kind. Rox80 :)

The only stupid question is one unasked.

The Help FAQ section has a lot of good info:

My drive is filling up. How to move all girls to another drive?

Copy the VGHD data directories (i.e. the entire VGHD folder with the sub folders) from where you have it to the other drive which would then be X:\VGHD (where X is your other drive)

Uninstall VGHD and then reinstall and watch for the option to change the data directory, its not a prompt, just a section on the setup screen.

NB: The uninstall will removed your saved (and encrypted) password, so you either need to have remembered what your VGHD account password was or to check on your password at the following BEFORE you uninstall:
http://www75.virtuagirlhd.com/us/customerservice.php?csCatId=14&csQuestionId=125

When you browse to select the drive X, it will display the new destination as X:\\. Do not worry about the second slash. You should then be right to re-update your rights and the models should not be redownloaded.

I tryed, but the online setup would not let me alter the destination address. The new installation insists on re-downloading my collection too. But that's o.k. because you gave me an idea how to move files off my C drive for backup. Anyway; not your fault; it was the online set up that wouln't cooperate,..no ***** done. Thank you for yor time. We almost got it to work! It's the story of my life. Rox80 :0

@Rox80. I'm certain that someone will come to your aid soon enough. Don't worry. A little trick i used to avoid all the mess was to simply clone my hard drive to a largest one. I didn't need to even re-install the software or re-download the models. Just make sure to asign the new hard drive the C path. If you can afford it, it's better in the long run to have at least a 300mb HD, believe me, you'll need more space before you can possible imagine. (;

There is another way; however, it requires editing entries in the windows registry. Something not really recommended for those not familiar with it.

Yes you are right. I'm not the one to edit my registry. I did that with Windows M.E.,not going to try that in Vista! And Oquijan I didn't even notice MB until you said GB but we both knew what you ment. Thank You all. Have a good night. I'm going to dream about girls ... or disk crashes......' hope it's girls. Rox- if you don't get the option to change install locations to another hard drive (example - external drive), it is probably because VGHD is still installed on your C: drive - in most cases.
First back up your VGHD folder with all sub folders, move all of that to a safe place, in my case, external hard drive. CHANGE models folder to some other name, or else unintall with wipe out your collection. (The good news is TOTEM/VGHD already has your models backed up on server). Find VGHD folder - either in program files or at (c-documents and settings-(admininstrator)-application data-VGHD-), and uninstall it completely. If you are successful, you will see the (browse) button - which will allow you to choose where to re-install the VGHD program.

Also go to HELP through membership page - and ask how to move all your files to another hard drive. Good luck - but always back up VGHD folder completely before uninstalling.
