Best way to proceed? Uninstall and re-register as a new machine?

I'm fitting a new CPU and GPU to the desktop system. All other components are remaining the same, however I will also be upgrading to W10 shortly after.

My view is that this will be recognised as a different machine most likely by Totem servers. Because I use two machines I am guessing I will have to uninstall VGHD/Deskbabes before proceeding. Is that a fair assumption?

Anyone with experience of such an upgrade (based on W7 to W8 and components at the same time for example) please feel free to chime in with what happened.

Old: Pentium G840, PowerColor AMD Radeon HD 6770 1GB, W8.1 Pro with Media Center

New: Core i3-3240, ASUS STRIX NVIDIA GTX960 OC 2GB, W10 Pro

I've uninstalled and completed the survey doing so triggers, so hopefully that means the servers registered the process this time.

Anyhow, it will be a good few days before I install W10 and then the VGHD/DB client again on this machine (models saved) so it will be unactive for a while if not.

Everything else seems to have been fine with the hardware changes, no activation errors have sprung up yet.

Loving the new card though and processor combo though :)

Just an update to say the machine is back up and running, activated and firing on all cylinders. There was a new NVIDIA driver released today so I installed that after the upgrade using the Geforce Experience program.

Did you request a install reset from a mod? You always have two installs for the program and your old machine could be still using one...

@goldie:

I installed the new Nvidia driver also yesterday. Today I found another update and HAD to install that update as I'm now experiencing a slight problem in Fullscreen mode...

Could you please check this for me? In Fullscreen mode, the girls' names no longer appear. This means that Nvidia has changed the OpenGL coding with these 2 updates :(

If that's the case, then Totem need to get on this ASAP!

Guys, as I just said, with the latest OpenGL drivers, I'm finding that 'clipNameSprite' is no longer working :(

I don't see any names at all in Fullscreen mode.

Edit: The graphics still look beautiful tho :)

@HombreSinSombra

Unfortunately I don't use NVIDIA. I was always an ATI man and consequently all my graphics stuff is now AMD. I too had an update just after I upgraded to Windows 10 however this does not seem to have caused me any problems. Everything fullscreen appears to work as it always did.

I will add one caveat to that. If I "deny" fronttable and behindtable then no table clips play - I get a "No Clips Are Available" for any table scenes. I am getting on a bit now and my memory may be faulty but I seem to remember that if you denied both of these, clips that were table top only would still play. As indicated my memory may be at fault, please advise.

@No.6: Not sure about that as I haven't really checked so deep. Before now, everything I expected to work, DID work :)
As an update, it appears that my new problem with 'clipNameSprite' only seems to happen when launching Fullscreen from the option wheel. The other 4 ways to launch Fullsceen seem ok...

Some of the clips tho have now lost any animation to the clipNameSprite and show only the default, original Totem version.

2 options... Roll back my driver or wait till Totem figure this out... :)

I'll check it and get back to you as soon as I can. I usually turn the girls names off so wouldn't have noticed the difference.

I hope I have some useful feedback. My Geforce driver build is 355.60 64-bit. The names seem to be working okay for me from the right-click options wheel as well as all other methods.

I deselected all scenes except Paris Penthouse multi to make sure the girl I right-clicked wasn't alone on screen.

It displayed names for the two girls on the podiums in the background but not the foreground.

Perhaps that is the correct behaviour and the actual right-clicked girl's name is never displayed via this method of triggering fullscreen? I don't know for certain but it would seem to make sense while implying if you right-clicked the girl to go fullscreen you already know the name of the first central performer of the scene.

EDIT - try setting to display name always if you haven't already for fullscreen mode. seems to make it work for main performer immediately too when right-clicking for me anyhow.

I will test out the other scenes next and see if the girl change after X minutes triggers the name to display normally too. I will only update the post if it doesn't work.
