What is the difference between VGHD, VG Classic, and Stripsaver?

Ok, I've spent a decent amount of time reading comments and in the forum. I have a little over 30 cards at the moment and really like this program! I've tried to be a good community member by reviewing cards after I've recieved them(for the benefit of people debating on spending credits), as well as looking all over the website and forums to answer any of my own questions. But, I have a few questions that, I can't find a really direct answer for.

Totem keeps releasing Virtuagirl Classic cards. Are these Classic cards from the old program, that are converted for VGHD? And, whether they are, or not, is their quality significantly less than VGHD? I mean, are they worth getting if the quality is not as good?

Also, I've noticed people talking about a program called Stripsaver. I went to the website, and it took me to virtuagirl's website. Is Stripsaver simply a prototype?

@Kraehe123. Virtuagirl Classics are shows from the old VG2 program. There are generally 5 shows from VG2 in a classic card. Yes the quality is not as good as VGHD but they are fairly reasonable.

Now because they are lower quality they are considered more for serious collectors and as such are only available to platinum members or above. Meaning owning 100 cards of VGHD or a combination of VGHD and Deskbabes cards.

Stripsave was around at the same time as VG2 but was slightly different. I was never a member of that so can't really say anything definitely. So Stripsaver I think may have ceased unless you were a member.

I wanted to add a screenshot of the size and quality of VG Classics but laptop is acting up.

Ok. Thank you very much. That pretty much answered all my questions and the speed of your response was very good.

I hope to reach platinum level some day, but I think I'll stick with VGHD and maybe the occasional DB. I purchased 5 DB cards, and I just prefer Virtuagirl I guess. I like it when the Virtuagirls play with themselves a little so I thought I would prefer Deskbabes, but I just prefer more of a striptease I guess. Anyway, I digress.

Thanks again for the response!

Here is a picture of VG ( also called VG1) and VG2, this is the largest you could make these girls at the time, and they were either in the right corner or left corner.
Similar to Discreet made at 10%.

The Classics are being re-mastered from old TAPEs.
So the Original recordings were no where near HD quality.

The first image is borrowed from the Everything about Girls thread.
The Old Tapes...

The Second image is from my computer (XP) I found an old archive of VG(1) and VG2 and ran them side by side..
Stripsaver used the same animation files as VG2, but displayed them much larger as a screen saver only product.

VG(1) was about 1" tall, VG2 was about 2" tall, and Stripsaver was about 4" tall as a screen saver.

Here is a comparison of VG classic, with the old VGHD format and the latest much clearer VGHD format (introduced on 19th March 2010 with cards 655 and 661) - all at 100% zoom level.

Small update:

The classic collection MAY also include the original VG1 collection (bar the 5 that were never upgraded to VG2.

Stripsaver was animation converted to a desktop screen saver. There was very little difference between the two in the beginning and they became the same as time moved on. Being a bigger image on screen the Stripsaver figure became a little more "fuzzy"

Neither VG2 or SS2 are accessable any more, but those who bought the cards can still use them.

For information there was:

VG1 - First VirtuaGirl release
VG2 - An improved version of VG1 with better animation quality (387 m0dels released with a further 32 duos)

SS1 - First stripsaver released. (approx 200 models released)
SS2 - An improved version of SS1 with better animation quality (149 models released)

Edit:

I wrote this many hours ago, but just didn't pree the send button :(

The Image of the Tapes was borrowed from His posts in that thread.

If you haven't browsed through that thread, it is time well spent to pay it a visit.

Thank you Again Oquijan for all the effort and work you put into it.
It is a VG master piece.
