Is Crystal Clear+ the same as 4K ? - I just gone premium, so updating some of my 3K shows - and if so, why not just use the term '4k' ?

There are 720p with Crystal Clear+ bitrate
There are 1080p with Crystal Clear+ bitrate
and there are 3K with Crystal Clear+ bitrate
all of these lower resolutions have a higher bit rate than other clarity rated bitrates

4K is the designation of resolution, and that is independent of the bitrate.

Once you download a card in 4K, it's yours even after your premium membership expires. I don't know what will happen if you delete a 4K card after your premium membership expires.

Go to the "i" button top-right on the App, then click on User Manual and scroll your way down to Resolutions

You can only see the resolutions that are available for you to download. The 4k resolution is only available to premium members so you do not see it in the menu.

As far as I am aware all Crystal Clear+ are available in 4k and vice versa though in principle that need not be the case. I have not checked each card individually, but if I filter my collection for Crystal Clear+ there are 739 cards with that quality and if I search the xml files exactly the same number have 4k as one of their available resolutions - so I would say that yes, the two terms are effectively synonymous as far a the current set of cards are concerned.

The terms are not strictly synonymous as Crystal Clear+ differs from the other card quality classes in ways other than just the resolution but currently in iStripper they designate the same set of cards. This equivalance will almost certainly continue until an even higher resolution is introduced at which point a new "quality" term will likely be used to designate it.

Crystal Clear+ is NOT the Resolution
Crystal Clear+ is a higher bit rate encoding, So All resolutions benefit from the Higher bit rate.

Also, Crystal Clear+ are encoded at 30 frames per second now, vs the older cards at 24 frames per second.
Crystal Clear+ can have 256 levels of Edge transparency, verses the older cards with just 8 levels of transparency.
( to help eliminate the Jagged Edges )

Crystal Clear+ was rolled out at the same time as 4K resolution, but it is not synonymous with 4K.
But Since all the 4K cards are Also Crystal Clear+, in this case, you could say it is synonymous .

This is what I understood. Maps must be downloaded in 4k during your subscription. Not just purchased and not downloaded or uploaded in a lower resolution.

Any card you download in 4K is permanently in your collection.
Even after your Premium membership Ends, They are still part of your Collection.
You can even Redownload them in 4K if they get deleted.

While your Premium membership is Active, you can Download Any Prior released cards you Already own, in 4K
Plus All the New cards released in 4K that you Purchase.

the 4K cards you download are yours for as long as their is an iStripper.

After your Premium membership expires, you can no Longer Download NEW 4K cards you Purchase After the end of the membership
But All 4K cards you added while your membership was active are yours to keep.
Even cards that you Already own, and you re-downloaded in 4K.

Not just purchased and not downloaded or uploaded in a lower resolution.

While you have a premium membership
4K is Unlocked Simply by Purchasing a card that Has the 4K resolution.

you do NOT need to Download the 4K resolution for it to count as being in your Collection.

You can purchase a card, and download it in 720p
4k for that card is unlocked and you can download it in 4K at any time later.

Do you have to Download 4K for cards already in your Collection
or Are they Automatically Unlocked because they are Already in your Collection.

@Evaneself - I have all the 4k cards downloaded in 4k and I am rapidly filling a 6tB HDD.

4k shows regularly reach 2gB in size.

And don't forget to double your capacity needs to cater for back-ups.
