I've tried searching various different keywords, but came up empty.

Can anyone tell me how to stop VG from running when I turn on my computer ?

You can remove the shortcut link named 'DesktopVideoPlayer' from Windows Start Menu / Startup folder. It will solve your problem.

Seems that your VGHD is in the startup programs list.

Open Start, type in searchbox "msconfig.exe". Open it. It needs Admin's password.

Click on "startup" option. In this list find the VirtuaGirl.

Uncheck the checkbox, click "allow", OK and restart your computer.

Guess, this should help to.

Edit: Don't touch the startup folder (in All Programs). DesktopVideo Player has to be there!

And also in VGHD Settings _ Advanced you have to mark "Always start disabled" checkbox in Software options as well.

Each time you install VG, it will place a Shortcut to the "DeskTopVideo player" in the All Programs Startup folder.

This is the Shortcut that Cause VG to Startup with Windows.

If you Don't want it to Automatically Start when Windows Loads,
Delete this Shortcut from the Startup Folder.

Or you Can CUT and PASTE it to the Desktop.

Pictures:
1) All Programs, Startup, Right click on Desktop player, Select Delete..
or
2) All programs, Stratup, Right click on Desktop Player, Select CUT
3) Right Click on the Desktop and Click Paste to complete the Cut and Paste.

Most likely, you have an OLD shortcut to VG on your desktop or in your list of Programs.

If you Do the Cut and Paste Option, then your sure to have to Correct Version of the Shortcut to Manually Click on.

Picture:
1) just to show that in Windows 7, I also have it deleted from the Startup Folder.

... Well, I had a very similar situation at once, when the Registry Cleaner emptied the Startup Folder. When it was empty, I could not get any access to the program , because the desktop icon didn't respond either. I had to create a new active shortcut through the Bin folder, where the "vghd" file is stored.

Therefore I thought that the Startup Folder is an important one (not to be emptied).

But starting with Windows is OK for me, because I want my demos automatically downloaded, when computer is ON.

Thanks for sharing!

So far the only thing I found to stop it from fully opening on mac is to turn on "protect by password" under the settings tab in the advanced menu. the program still starts but no windows pop up, and when clicked the password dialog doesn't list the name of the application it is for, so it is discreet enough for now.

I did some more advanced things, like switching the virtual girl icon with something less obvious and more generic, so I don't get any what is that questions if I have someone looking over my shoulder. but so far no luck finding a way to prevent it from fully starting on start up which is slightly obnoxious.
