TGIF - Mystery Envelope

@Wyldanimal
I would agree with you if the business model Totem is using was the same you described, where
Money = Credits. Except that this is not true. Allow me to explain...

Totem is a Business Yes?
Yes, it is a business. I agree

If you have Valued customers that Every Day, buy everything at a 45% discount, and you as the Business only make $0.05
on each one...

But for New customers who Pay Full Price, you as the Business make $1.25 on each one...
I disagree. You are comparing oranges with apples. You are not spending real money in a card. You are spending credits. Whether a card is full price 25 credits or 13.75 credits (45% discount) is irrelevant. Totem is not making a profit by selling a card. Totem is making a profit by the real money ($) you spend to reload credits.
You are implying that the highest percentage of the profit comes from New Customers. This is not true. Actually, Totem gets most of its profit from the Valued Customers, they are buying every single card that comes out. The real math is that they are spending 13.75 credits X 30 = 412.5 credits per month, which mean they put in $50 every 5 weeks. New Customers will be more selective with their card purchases and will try to keep their credits as long as possible, ergo, they not be spending in a monthly basis.

What makes more Business sense for a Weekend Promotion..

Attract the Valued Customers so they Buy 100 items, and you make $5.00 profit..
Or Attract the New Customers so they Buy 100 items and you make $125.00 profit...
Not true. If a spend $100 to buy credits, whether I can buy 100 things or 40, or decide not to buy anything at all, the profit is still $100. It doesn’t matter how you spend the credits, or you can either spend it in the slot machine, win 2000 credits, but the profit still the same $100.
It becomes a profit at reload time, not when you buy a card

I think the weekend Promotion as a Business is Better to Attract the New customers.
You are already Taking care of your Valued Customers Every day of the Year.
The weekend promotion is to achieve 2 things
1. If you have the credits, a promotion is an incentive to spend them, and to spend them as quick as possible. The faster you spend your credits the sooner is the likelihood to buy more credits for real money ($).
2. If you don’t have the credits and the promotion is very appealing, then you will spend $ to buy credits, so you can enjoy the promotion.
Totem as a business needs to appeal equally to both Valued and New Customers.

Full price card cost $2.50
50% of that price goes to pay your Affiliates. so you pay out $1.25 per card..
and you Keep $1.25 profit that has to cover your Employees and Production Costs..

When you Sell a card at the 45% discount, you still need to pay your Affiliates that $1.25
So that only Leaves you $0.05 profit.
Full price is 25 credits, not $2.50. So if I spend $50, then $25 is for affiliates and $25 that cover salaries and expenses.

A business can only Survive if it can turn a Profit..
So many of the Weekend Promotions are targeted to Generate Profit...
A business survives only if customers spend money, and if they can do it in a regular basis, then is all good news. If a promotion is bad, they won’t spend their credits. A bunch of credits stacked in a customer’s account is bad news for Totem, because that means the customer won’t be reloading credits anytime soon.

Random Seed

Tout sur iStripper
27 April 2019, 4 réponses
I saw it mentioned in the TGIF thread about the Unfairness of the Fansign offering because members don't know the Odds of Winning...

Hint:
It's a RANDOM selection from ALL of the Members who enter..

so if 10 members enter the Odds are 10 to 1
if 100 members enter is 100 to 1

It's random... every one who enters has the same chance as every other member.

What is the Random Seed.

It is a randomly Generated number used to Verify the Random Results of a Random Selection.

All the Member names are entered in to a Table.
A random Seed is Generated and Entered in to the Random Algorithm.
One Winner is then Chosen at random based on the Seed value.

All lotteries must report the random Seed along with the Winner.
This is so the Win can be Verified.

The same Random Seed will Always display the Same random choice.

The Seed is usually generated based of the system or Universal time.
Often the Number of Milliseconds since midnight, or the Number of nanoseconds since midnight is used to feed the Seed Generator.

There are 86400000000000 nano seconds in a day.
If the current nano second count is used as the seed in the Seed Generator, and the Generator picks the 1000'th pseudorandom number as the resultant Seed,

it's 86400000000000 ^ 1000th power that, that seed will be unique.

this seed number is then used to pick the winner..

Enter the randomly generated Seed number and a random winner is selected.
If you Later need to verify or Prove the random selection

you can Enter the Same Seed number and you will get the same results again.
If you enter a different Seed number, you will get a completely different set of results.

Thank you to everyone who participates, and Gets a bit more of a discount, and also helps keep the Business running.
Every so often, there is a Promotion that The Full Collection Members can take advantage of..
But in between, the Promotion might not be the best Fit for the full Collection members.

Edit:
I used numbers to emphasize a point.
I don't know what the actual numbers are...
But you get the idea, I hope...
