Can the background image in the full screen mode be changed? I don't want a beech background. I'd prefer an indoor stripper setting if there is a selection. Any guidance is appreciated.

There are many, very many, indoor stripper settings that can be found in the thread that @Stefnev1 linked to.

Or you can supply your own backgrounds for the simple 2D scenes - that just entails puting your background image in the scene's folder.

Or you can create more complex scenes for yourself.

If I add images then they get scaled or stretched and look weird and there is no setting to prevent that.

If I add images then they get scaled or stretched

If you check the Existing Image used by the scene
you can Discover it's size in Height and Width,
But more importantly, it's size Ratio
is the ratio 4:3 or 16:9 or 16:10

examples of Ratio and Size
https://www.parts-people.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/ScreenSizes.png

Now that you know the Ratio of the existing image
you can edit your own images so they are the same Ratio
or even edit them so they have the same Height and Width as the existing images.

Some of your custom images might only have to be Cropped to result in the correct Ratio
or Some might need to have a boarder added to make it the correct Ratio

And if you want to dive deeper into the scene itself.
Each time an Image is used in the Scene
there is a Size and or a Scale command
that changes how the image is displayed on Screen.

But the easiest way to change the background image is:
Use a custom image that is the same Size and same Ratio as the existing image.
Then you will not have any Scaling or Stretching issues.

Hope this helps.
