@ComteDracula

Looks like a good system.
Needs 8GB more memory, If you can't match what you already have
then maybe a Matched set of 16GB to replace the 8 already there.

Also a Setting on your Graphics driver, turn off G-Sync
your Monitor is Limiting the speed of your card to 68 FPS.

NVIDIA G-SYNC can cap benchmark fps/score to the monitor's refresh rate. (Disable G-SYNC/VSYNC or any other frame capping technologies during the benchmark)
https://www.userbenchmark.com/Faq/What-is-the-UBM-PC-status/94#GRAPHICS_CARD

Your's is comparable ( better ) to my Mid-Range gaming system
and I don't see stuttering on the scenes there.

CPU alone, you are 15% faster
but GPU, probably because of G-SYNC
you are a bit slower.

@Wyldanimal, I have disabled G-sync and turned off vertical sync in the 3D settings in the NVIDIA control panel global settings.

I set the screen refresh to 144 hz normal mode, rather than 60 hz.

I restarted iStripper. I tried the problematic scenes, and I don't see any improvement on the scenes that require a lot of resources and that bring jerks in the fast movements of the girls.

I also tried the GPU option in the iStripper settings, but it's worse than the CPU option.

I don't know if this is a problem caused by the lack of RAM memory, or if it's due to something else?

My PC is also only 8 Gb RAM so maybe RAM is not the problem, or maybe I am just ignoring the stutter more than you

One thing that is significant is the screen Resolution.
@EverthangForever
1360 x 768 is 1 million pixels per screen

@ComteDracula
2560 x 1440 is 3.5 million, More than 3.5 times yours
every frame.

@Wyldanimal
1920 x 1080 is 2 million
I don't run mine in 4K unless I'm testing the clips.
Because everything is just too tiny to see

Small question, my cards when they play are on this external drive, which gives this result, in my test above.

Obviously iStripper was closed during the benchmarks test

Seagate Backup+ Hub BK 10TB
142 User benchmarks, average bench 38
4TB free
Firmware: D781
SusWrite @10s intervals: 186 190 192 192 192 192 MB/s
Relative performance n/a - RAM cached drive detected

There are no percentage results on this drive, unlike the others. Why is this?

Another thing, I wonder about my graphics card, which has only 3 GB of Ram.

By the way, the graphics processor usage was 100% when using the problematic scenes.

Is there a link with this?

I download all cards in their maximum resolutions.

Seagate Backup+ Hub BK 10TB

4TB free
Firmware: D781
SusWrite @10s intervals: 186 190 192 192 192 192 MB/s
Relative performance n/a - RAM cached drive detected

I have 2 set of the cards
1 Set I download so I can play them on the Laptop and these are in 1080p size.

the other set I download in the Max size available for that card.
Since I have a Premium Sub, I download the current releases in 4K

Both sets are stored on a Network Path.
so I can make a simple edit to the Totem Registry
and change the ModelsPath

When I'm testing the clips on my Midrange Rig,
I'm using the High resolution clips with my screen at 4K.

When I'm just enjoying the clips, watching with Scenes on the screen at 1080p
I use the 1080p set of clips.

It makes a Huge difference on the Stuttering, especially
if the scene is a GPU hog.

If I was using the 4K clips, the stuttering would be much worse

So the Combination of Screen resolution at 1080p and the Clip resolution at 1080p
Makes for Lower CPU and GPU loads.
Especially with Scenes the Need Lots of GPU processing power.

I have 2 set of the cards

@Z22 used to say a while back, that it was the amount of re-scaling
required that took up much of the processor load with scenes.
Lately I've been trying to edit scenes / shaders with this in mind..

You stayed away too long :-(
Shaders can't keep up with 4K monitors + fullscreen ?
This one even siezes up if the model gets stuck in a tree..on my 60Hz 1360 x 768 potato screen

FG173 Trying to minimise some re-scaling via da .scn file https://scenes.virtuastripper.net/ET_FractalGarden173.zip zip size = 119 Kb . Extract the zip straight to ..scenes/ folder. Allow merged folde...

Yeh, the frosted forest shader appears to be quite heavy. Its using between 70% and 90% of my 3090.

It has a bunch of "for" loops with one being

for(int i=7;i>=0;i--){if(h[i]==0.)continue;

this loop appears to be the hog, reducing it to 1 loop cuts gpu usage in half. It does make it more grainy but you could pass the result through a denoise/blur filter which shouldn't cost as much

@Z22 I have been playing this with some tweeks like changing the above line 173 to ..
for(int i=3;i>=0;i--){if(h[i]==0.)continue;
and the model seeems to be a better frame rate..well that is until she gets
close to da Strandbeest of course. Thanks for your tip about 'for' loops :-)

FG173x Frosted ForestMod02.fsh
for(int i=3;i>=0;i--){if(h==0.)continue;
with test cards Ariel A e0967 and Merry Pie e0092

FG173 Ariel A sometimes slow, Merry Pie slow.
FG173x Ariel A sometimes slow, Merry Pie ok.

The 'Strandbeest' does slow things as mentioned.

Hope that is useful. 😕 😎

Also, is the scene supposed to just end inside a tree like that? 😄

@Socialhazard your idea of testing old against new clips is quite important imho. 👍
Thanks lots for that

WebGL Shader Inputs:

uniform vec3 iResolution; // viewport resolution (in pixels)
uniform float iTime; // shader playback time (in seconds)
uniform float iTimeDelta; // render time (in seconds)
uniform int iFrame; // shader playback frame
//uniform float iChannelTime[4]; // channel playback time (in seconds)
//uniform vec3 iChannelResolution[4]; // channel resolution (in pixels)
uniform vec4 iMouse; // mouse pixel coords. xy: current (if MLB down), zw: click
//uniform samplerXX iChannel0..3; // input channel. XX = 2D/Cube
uniform vec4 iDate; // (year, month, day, time in seconds)
//uniform float iSampleRate; // sound sample rate (i.e., 44100)

These are some default settings that Shadertoy's WebGL works with.
As we don't have multichannels like sound on our OpenGL iSplayer,
I have commented out the ones that I figure don't apply on our system.

In the quest for getting shaders to compile and run efficiently, its worth keeping an eye
on your vghd.logs to see if any of the above are creating ommisions or conflicts.

I was intrigued by the slow down of clip frame rate caused by proximity of the model
to the 'Strandbeestie' in da Frosted Forest.fsh Mods recently. There appears to be a
relationship between Clip stuttering and..
  • How much ( ie: how close ) does the detail of the shader get to filling the screen
  • How independently is detail in the shader moving and what is range of color used.
  • Age of the clip ( ie: is it resolution 720p, 1080p, 3K or 4K ? )
  • the speed at which the shader is running at.

Here is another shader by Eiffie that you might want to mess with, to test the effects
on clip frame rates.

The FG175, works well for me @EverthangForever.

I can't wait to receive and install my new memory modules (RAM), to see if there will be a difference in performance.

The graphic of this scene is impressive, with its 3D impression.

Thank you.

I am happy for you @Philours. Getting some color back is a sign of getting healthy again. We are always in slow motion, during a recovery. 😆

Here is a song, that will go well for you with this scene, from one of our late great Quebec rock band.

"Slow Motion" by the band "Corbeau", with Marjolaine Morin (Marjo). Song which is according to me part of their best album "Illégal".

To discover, if you don't know. 😊

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVjfZXHz4EU

She was pretty and sexy our Marjo in the 80s. It's always a pleasure to see her again, when she covers her old hits on TV.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVjfZXHz4EU

@Socialhazard sure. If you set My collection menu so that your clips
shown are either 720p or 3K it will indicate strong stutters or not.

---
@ComteDracula if your 4K clips still stutter after upgrading memory
you may need to download favorite 3K or 1080p cards and use a playlist.

I don't know how you handle 2 different resolutions of the same card.
Does a 3K card download replace an existing 4K card download or can you
just toggle the clip resolution down one way or another?

To do this, you must download the card again in the desired resolution.

I don't know how you handle 2 different resolutions of the same card.

I do this all the time.
Simply browse to the Models folder
Example
e1500, which is currently in 1080p size.

I rename the Folder to e1500-1080p
Then in the App, I select the new Resolution
Pick 3K
the Card will now be downloaded in 3k, but instead of replacing the existing files, I have them saved by renaming the folder
before I selected the New Resolution.

When this download is done,
I rename the folder again e1500-3K
and select a different resolution in the app, like 720p

And then when that is done, I rename that folder to e1500-720p
and I pick a new resolution 4K

Now I have 4 sets of folder for card e1500

e1500 <-- which is the 4K version and the one that will be used
e1500-3K
e1500-1080p
e1500-720p

To change which version I will use.
I simply rename two folders.
1st
rename e1500 --> to e1500-4K
then rename one of the other folders, such as the 720p folder
from e1500-720p --> to e1500

The app will know which resolution the clips are, because the clips are encoded with the resolution.
You DO NOT adjust the Resolution in the APP.
You Only Rename the folders to change resolutions.

If you Decide NOT to rename your Folders.
Then each time you pick a new resolution the Old resolution is deleted, and the new resolution replaces the deleted files.
You have to re-download a different resolution every time you want to switch.

By using renamed folders, you can Keep, 2, 3, or all 4 resolutions downloaded, and switch between them at any time.

Also,
even though it is the same card, There could be slight differences in the clips from one resolution to the other.

Each resolution is Encoded individually from the Master Video files
but the encoder software has different settings for each resolution
slight changes to the settings could result in slight differences between the resolutions.

In QA we sometimes see this, where the 720p versions will work ok.
But the 3K version might have an issue.

It is because each resolution is encoded as a separate process.

Ok, I understand the principle but then you need more storage space 😕😆

But you are only doing this to Test and find which resolution works best.
So Not every card needs multiple resolutions Only one or two for testing.
