Hi, I just purchased a subscription to VG; I know this issue won't crop up for a while, but I heard that the software randomly chooses cards to download for your cards each day. If that's the case, what happens if a card already owned is selected? Do you just lose that download for the day?

The software randomly chooses from the cards you don't already own, so you always get a new card each day (as long as there are still cards you don't have in your collection).

So if I maintain my subscription for say, a few years, I'll eventually run out of cards that I don't have, right? What happens at that point?

Then there's no point in keeping a subscription.

You have a couple of options:
  • either keep a continuous subscription going in the knowledge that you won't get a card every day ('cos you've already got them all).
  • or, and this is what I do, cancel your subscription and wait until there are enough cards to make your subscription give you a card a day. (that's around 60 cards).

@kasmania It is up to you to pick the best option for yourself. I have a full collection and maintain a six moth subscription which entitles me to a card a day as long as there are cards to cover it.

Of course because I am a maxed out member that means that I don't actually get a card a day but every Friday I get all five cards in one go. This suits me although technically I am paying slightly more per card.

If you want to get the best value for your money you have to figure out when to stop your subscription and allow the amount of cards to build up again for a subscription to become useful again before you renew.

Hope this helps.

@Kasmania,

Welcome to Virtuagirl, and it's good to see that you are looking forward to being maxed out on VGHD cards some day in the far future.

If you have and maintain a one-card-per-day subscription, and if Totem continues to release 5 new VGHD cards per week, it's going to take you a very, very long time to get maxed out. For every 7 new cards you collect, 5 new ones will have been released, meaning you can only "catch up" (decrease the number of cards you don't own) at the net rate of two cards per week. At that rate (assuming you make no other purchases on the side), it would take you almost 12 years to max out (but what an enjoyable journey)! If that's not fast enough for you and if you can afford it, the best economic deal and best way to catch up is by the four-cards-per-day subscription. That's how I was able to complete the last lap of my own catch-up race.

Enjoy!

As DMon1981 pointed out.
Once you Max out your Collection, you Won't Get a New card Every Day, via the Subscription.

Each Friday when the New cards are released you will Get ALL of the new cards for that week.
Production is 4 to 5 cards per week..

But once Maxed out, even at 4 or 5 cards, the Subscription is still a good deal..
