I've got an 80GB hard drive for my system.

Being the VGHD junkie I am, I barely have any room for anything anymore and my PC is starting to run really slow. I have over 50 GB of VGHD models and I'd like to move them to one of the secondary drives.

Thanks!

I found this possible answer. It only refrences Windows Vista and Windows 7, and this PC is still running XP.

I'll update it here if this fix works for XP and if I had to do anything differently.

Thanks Oquijan, for the tip, but without having to potentially risk having to re-download over 50GB of content, as the post suggests, the post I referenced before worked flawlessly....

http://www.vgirls.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=31&Itemid=46

For whatever reason though, the link i provided was not included in my post (and for whatever reason may not be included in this post too). I posted it again right now before this sentence in case anyone else has this problem.

It took about an hour to copy my VGirls to the secondary drive, but following those instructions it took me only about a minute to make it seem as nothing was ever changed. (No worries or warning about losing all of your data!)

All that being said, I think my only suggestion for future versions of VGHD would be the GUI interface option of changing the location of the Models. Maybe these days nobody else still uses 80GB hard drives for the system while using 1-3TB hard drives as secondary drives, but I figure if my main drive gets corrupted it's so much easier reinstalling it when there's nothing there that I would miss....

There is NO reason that we shouldn't be able to save this to our secondary drives without any effort. I know everybody and their grandmother is on Facebook now, but 9 out of 10 people I talk to these days still wouldn't even be able to give a basic explanation of what a "Registry" is, let alone knowing how to research the topic on Google using the "correct" search strings.

I've been personal witness of much greater things happening to VGHD over the years than this one little request. I don't give two shits about it myself anymore since I know how to fix it in the future, but I suggest that it's an invaluable addition to your basic "settings" menu. Even iTunes allows you to do this on Windows PCs without editing the registry.
Make it happen!

Didn't mean to step on your toes there Wyldanimal.

Seriously man, thanks for the great info.

It freed up more than half of my System drive.

Let's be real though. No knock on the VG team, but why isn't an option to specify download and playback parameters for our Girls a simple to use option in the product settings itself, without having to enlist the help of somebody who has a firm grasp of the Windows registry? I just count myself lucky that A) I know how to play with a "text string" in Google to eventually find the answer I'm looking for , and B) I know a bit about the Windows Registry from past experiences and I was able to follow your instructions without a hitch. The only hiccup was how long it took to transfer all that data (which would have been a non-issue in the first place, had the ability to download and view the Girls from a secondary drive been an option in the GUI in the first place, right?)

Granted, I don't have the capital or charisma to get a bunch of drop dead gorgeous foreign girls to strip on camera and a green screen for residuals, but I know enough from my one semester of community college VB class to at least know that this was a good idea to add, even if I wasn't sure immediately how to implement it.

Not that I'm worried about it anymore, but here's hoping that this simple feature is added in the future for those too stupid and/or lazy to search Google for a few minutes and follow your easy directions.

Thanks again for the help, Wyldanimal. ;)

No, no.. I didn't mean to come across as "having my toes stepped on"
I'm glad you were able to find the correct information and move your collection.

I thought I'd share the link to the Totem post, so that other members could find it Here on Totem's forum, without having to rely on a 3rd party web site.

You know.. keep the members on one site, instead of searching all over..

And the info I posted, while it may have come from one of my posts, Had been part of Totems, Customer Service offerings for some time.
I just Copied and pasted the Text from their (OLD) Customer Service page, and included it in my post.
