Gift cards can be exchanged for any card in the store except for EX Cards and Special Event Cards. You can see the amount of Gift Cards you have on the upper right hand corner of the screen next to the Blue Card with a Silver Bow icon. (Clicking this icon will also give you the same information, hope this helps).
