hi,

i'm trying to run istripper on linux.

i tried with lutris (wine-ge 8.26, the recommanded by lutris), proton hotfix, proton ge 9.25.
each time i arrived to install but after leaving i can't restart vghd.exe (i see the process but i don't see the window)
i tried with steam with many proton version > same problem.
i tried with bottles > same.
i tried with wine > same.
i tried with wine-hq > same.

like i can see the process vghd.exe, the program is started. so it's good. but maybe i need a dependance or other thing to get the window.

for each test i didn't login to avoid get "too many install".

so the only way to get istripper on linux is a vm or someone find a tip to get it on linux?

It is about version 2.0.0. If I install it it will not run anymore. I cannot say what exactly was changed what does the problem. Even if the program manager says vghd is running nothing happens, no task bar icon, nothing. If you go to an older version it should work. I think it is really sad. Linux users always get forgotten. I wish they would have a real linux version.

The fact it starts only right after install makes me think they've changed something with how the application detects itself as running as a single instance and talks with itself (I'm clueless about whether it is related to lockfile, mutex, pipes or other windows API). I remember trying the beta around black friday 2024 and it worked back then.

I've messed a bit with the app today, and I think I've found a workaround. If you set yourself as not having accepted the latest terms, it prompts you and just opens:

export WINEPREFIX=/path/to/your/prefix
# patch broken singleton check
sed -i "s^\"acceptedTermsVersion\"=dword:00000003^\"acceptedTermsVersion\"=dword:00000000^" "$WINEPREFIX"/user.reg
wine c:/users/YOUR_USER/AppData/Local/vghd/bin/vghd.exe

I still would recommend sticking to the old version. That's as far as I've got with v2.0.0
